Thou, who the verdant fields dost traverse here,
While streams along the willowy vallies flow,
Retiring far, lost in the distant meade,
O stranger!  stay thee, and the scenes around
Contemplate well.  This, know thou is the place
Where Lexington's brave sons, all clad in arms,
And stern with conquest o'er their tyrant's bands,
Intimidated then, with sword did challenge
The charter of thy freedom.  Pass not on,
